Check out Goodreads to see all of my book reviews and ratings. I don't always get a chance to write a review for every book I've read, so feel free to message me if you want me to review a specific book, whether or not I've read it already. Let me know if there are specific things you'd like to see in my reviews (like more detailed comments on characters) to help you pick your next read!

If you are an author or publisher looking for honest, objective, and substantive reviews, please send me an email! I'd be thrilled to read and review your book. I am happy to read ARCs, physical, or digital books, then post my reviews on my blog, my Goodreads account, and Amazon. If you have any other website where you'd like me to post a review, please let me know in your email.

As always, I want to help you discover a new book to read and maybe find a favourite along the way.

Review Policy

I am currently accepting select Young Adult or Teen books for review. You can send emails to kyeralynn@gmail.com.

I am making an exception and WILL accept Adult books that are appropriate for YA readers (meaning, no graphic sex).

I accept ARCs, finished copies, and audiobooks (although I would prefer less of these). If the book is a part of a series, then I may need the previous books. If you are requesting an audiobook review, then I would appreciate a print copy of the book as well as it helps when I reference things. In the case of audiobooks, there will be two parts to my reviews: one for the story, and another reviewing the reader/audio performance. I will gladly accept e-books, but I prefer to read and review print copies. They allow me to take notes throughout the novel more easily and result in a better, more thorough review.

I am generally NOT accepting self-published books, indie press books, or interactive media books at this time. Review requests for these books will likely not receive a reply.

Genres

You can check and see if your book is on my TBR list. If it's there, then you know I want to read it! You can also browse my reviews to get a feel for my interests.

I enjoy YA and MG fiction in the following genres:

  • Fantasy
  • Historical fiction
  • Fairy tale/myth retellings
  • Light contemporary romance
  • Paranormal
  • Mystery
  • Gothic horror/romance
  • Humor
  • Dystopia
  • Books with happy endings

I am generally NOT accepting YA and MG books in the following genres:

  • Non-fiction
  • Memoirs/biographies
  • Non-romance contemporary books
  • "Issues" books (dying mothers, cancer diagnoses, mental illnesses, family drama, etc)
  • Extremely political or "hot button" topics
  • Poetry/Free verse novels
  • Short story compilations (unless I've read/reviewed a majority of the authors already)

Accepting Books

I will make every effort to read and review in a timely fashion. I try to read the novels with regard to release dates, but I cannot guarantee that they will all be reviewed if the timeline is short. I prefer to receive a book at least 1 month prior to when the book will be published, and to have a reasonable period of time to read and review before the feedback is expected.

Reviews

I will write a review for almost every young adult book I finish. Many reviews will also be posted on Amazon.com and Goodreads, as well as this blog. My reviews are written to address the strengths and pitfalls of a novel, as I experienced them. (The character development, world building, typos, storyline, etc.) They are not meant to be objective literary critiques.

I try to write fair and honest reviews, but this does not mean I will always write positive reviews. My reviews are my opinion, and if I don’t enjoy a book then my review will reflect that.

With that said, I strive to explain why the book in question did not work for me personally. I do NOT write nasty commentary about the author.

If I do not finish a book I may write an explanation as to why this occurred. These explanations are different from standard reviews and will state that I did not finish the book, what page I read up to, why I did not finish, and if I plan on ever picking up the book again. They will of course be shorter than a normal review.

Review Structure

I post my review initially on Goodreads and have it sent to my blog, so the post will show the following:
  • Cover art
  • Title
  • Author
  • My review: What I liked and didn't
  • Star rating
There are clickable links in the review that bring readers to the book’s Goodreads page.

Star Rating:

= I loved this book and would certainly go buy a copy!

= I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't a perfect match for me, but I really liked it and would probably purchase it.

= I liked this book overall, but there were enough things that bothered me to affect my enjoyment.

= Significant number of things I didn't like that negatively impacted my overall enjoyment, though I may still have liked some parts of this book.

= I really didn’t like this book at all and may have been tempted to not finish it as a result.

As Goodreads does not allow half-star ratings, I generally do not post those. If there is a book that I feel truly warrants it, I may use that rating an explanation my rationale.
